The 400 C was Redline’s Tri Moly racer/thrasher/entry level but quality bike in these years.

88 was the first year the Zebra stripes were added.

1983 Redline PL-24 Test

1980 V Bar ad

This ad with Greg Hill shows the 1980 bike and bars. The V bar came in two sizes. Proline which was 26″ wide in those years and the Microline at 23″ wide. In the ad Greg is holding the Microline. The Microline came stock on early complete MX-II’s.

1989 models

1988 and 89 were slow years for Redline. Their advertisements rarely showed their bike models. They had just two models they mention in 88 and just 3 in 89.
The three 89 (Full size) bikes they list are
390
400D
700EXL (4130)

One of the bikes was Tri Moly. Probably the 400D and the 390 was Mild Steel, but that’s just a guess. Again the ads were horrible and I cant find a catalog.

1979 David Clinton advertisement

David Clinton was one of the first big names in BMX. In fact before Stu Thomsen and Brent Patterson the biggest names in BMX were probably John George and David Clinton. This ad is so clean and classic. The X on his numberplate was for District X. X was Southern California (except San Diego which was S).
